Next weekend’s Sometimes a Great Notion festival at Disjecta is quite the undertaking. According to the festival’s website, it is designed to “surprise and confuse.” With the bold comparison to arts festivals of the '70s and '80s, SAGN aims to unearth “unknown” bands and pay homage to indoor music and arts festivals everywhere.

The weekend-long celebration has a disjointed albeit exciting lineup, featuring headliners te Felice Brothers and Dennis Coffey on Friday, Ed Kuepper on Saturday, and Peaking Lights on Sunday. A slew of local bands will be playing too, among them Wild Fang, Onuinu, Holcombe Waller, Pulse Emitter, and countless DJs.

Portland’s Mapache Films will be projecting things outside of Disjecta, as well as doing light shows and providing footage of bands that couldn’t make it to the festival. Other film projects will be shown from Into the Woods, Frkways, and local filmmakers.

SAGN is hosted and curated by Hong Kong-based Metal Postcard Records, who have hosted music and arts festivals like this around the world. This is their first in the US.

Weekend and day passes will be available at the door and cost $25-55. Kids 14 and under can get in for $15.

Full lineup after the jump.
